When I learnt how to make fully jointed teddy bears I went bear crazy. Having given many away as gifts to family and friends I was persuaded by my family to open a shop (as the bears are taking over the house).
I use natural materials sourced as sustainably as I can. I use stiff mohair, locally sourced wool batting, glass eyes, sustainable steel pellets to give them extra weight. Each bear is designed and conceived individually. No mass making here. As they are coming together a name comes to me and this informs the final decisions about their features.
Making bears is a very mindful activity and brings me a lot of pleasure. The hardest thing is parting with them though and sending them off from my Devon home by the sea to their new homes. It is made a little easier when their new family send me pictures of them from time to time.
I hope you enjoy looking through the pictures and if you do like the shop please tell your friends.
Thanks for stopping by.
PS I make a small donation in rotation to my favourite charities, WWF, Friends of the Earth, Woodland Trust and Unicef, with each sale as part of my personal giving but would love it if you took a look at the work these organisations do. If my bears or hares inspire you to support one of them I would love to hear about it.
